Andrea Doria
President
Andrea Doria is Professor of Rheumatology at the Department of Medicine, Padua University School of Medicine, Italy, and Chief of the Rheumatology Unit at Padua University Hospital.
The Unit which he leads is a tertiary referral rheumatological centre, of prominence within Italy, for the diagnosis and management of patients affected with rheumatological diseases. During his tenure, the Rheumatology Unit of Padua received the designation of 'EULAR Center of Excellence in Rheumatology 2022-2027'
During his academic career he has trained over 70 students in rheumatology and inspired some of them to be dedicated scientists.
He served as a Council member of the Italian College of Rheumatology from 1999 to 2005, and as a Council member of the Italian Society of Rheumatology from 2007 to 2010, 2013 to 2015, and 2018 to 2020. He was the incoming president of the Italian Society of Rheumatology from 2022 to 2024, and has been the president of the Italian Society of Rheumatology since November 2024, currently serving in that role.
In 2016, he founded the European Lupus Society (SLEuro) and served as the first President of its Executive Committee. He is currently serving as the Treasurer of the same society. He is a member of the Lupus Academy Steering Committee, a member of the Systemic Lupus Erythematosus International Collaborating Clinics (SLICC) group, and a member of the OMERACT SLE Working Group.
Prof. Doria was involved as “expert” in the EUropean League Against Rheumatism (EULAR) Standing Committee for the development of clinical and therapeutic recommendations.
He was a member of the Scientific Committee for several national and international rheumatology conferences

Prof Doria has also authored over 600 Institute for Scientific Information (ISI) publications on SLE (Scopus h-index 93, citations 33.168) and other rheumatological diseases, and participates on the editorial boards of several rheumatology and immunology journals – Lupus, Autoimmunity, Clinical and Experimental Rheumatology, Autoimmunity Reviews, Journal of Autoimmunity, Experimental Biology and Medicine.
